AVEL designs and manufactures high performance composites parts using an AFP machine (*Automated Fiber Placement machine). In 2017 and for the first time in the nautical industry, composites parts such as foils and rudders are manufactured using an AFP machine. This is a transfer of know-how from the aeronautical industry into the nautical industry. Offshore sailing team such as François Gabart Mer Concept have chosen AVEL to built their foils for the 2020 Vendee Globe.
