Struggle used to be part of growing up. We've engineered it out of kids' daily lives, piece by piece, without meaning to, and real learning still takes hard work. That hasn't changed. When kids hit something hard now, they melt down or shut down. It's not who they are or what they can do. It's a muscle that hasn't been used. I built the Learning Mountain to change that. It's a visual that shows kids where struggle fits in the learning process, so it stops feeling like proof something's wrong with them and starts feeling like the next step. I coach families and educators on the skills that build that muscle, and I work directly with kids too. It's not tied to one subject or one classroom. Any hard thing, in school or out of it. Once a kid has it, it's theirs for life, not just for this year's math test.
