Authority Under Pressure Information

Authority Under Pressure® is a leadership advisory practice and body of work founded by Trisha King. It examines what happens when responsibility expands faster than authority, and capable people quietly begin carrying work, complexity and organisational pressure beyond the formal boundaries of their role. This can include unclear decision ownership, difficult relationships, competing priorities, work with no obvious owner and the repeated coordination required to keep things moving. Often, the organisation continues to perform. The pressure is harder to see because somebody is absorbing it. Authority Under Pressure® gives language to that experience and helps leaders and organisations examine what has accumulated, where dependency has developed and what genuinely belongs with the person carrying it. The work is particularly focused on women in insurance, banking, financial services and other regulated environments. The methodology moves through three stages: Recognition – seeing clearly what is being carried and the conditions producing it. Choice – creating enough distance to ask: Is this mine to hold? Rebalancing – developing a more deliberate relationship with responsibility, complexity and authority. The practice includes one-to-one leadership advisory, organisational work, writing and practical reflection tools, including the Authority Under Pressure® Navigator and Journal. Trisha brings more than 20 years’ experience across insurance and complex organisations, including AXA, Zurich and the BBC. She holds the ACII qualification and is a qualified coach.
