Aurelia: the outer shell that protects a butterfly during a process of transformation. We believe in strength in community. Our focus is capacity development, coaching and mentoring – providing the guidance and skills needed for self-sufficiency. We strive to facilitate a safe and supportive change process, holding space for communities while they develop the skills and capacity to grow and thrive. We are a small team of professionals who share a collective passion and are united behind our mission. We take our expertise in Child and Youth Care and the operation of licensed placement homes and work with communities to develop the competencies, programs, and training they need not only to operate placements, but more importantly to deliver care using both best practices and a care approach that is rooted in culture itself. We utilize the privileges that are inherently ours to influence, inspire debate, and press for action. We work side by side, mentoring and being mentored, so that we can all walk with a foot in both worlds. We recognize the historical and present-day injustices forced upon the Indigenous peoples of Canada, we have personally witnessed the tragic outcomes of these injustices, and we refuse to accept their continuation. We know that every pebble thrown into a pond creates a ripple. We are Aurelia.
