We offer volunteering opportunities; safe spaces for teens; child care; camps; career guidance; employment services; support for immigrants; and a range of other services essential for individuals and communities to shine their brightest. No matter your needs or stage of life, when you join the Y community, you get to be part of something special. Over our 170-year history, we’ve adapted to meet our communities’ most urgent needs. Today, these needs include mental health supports, affordable housing, accessible child care, help navigating our precarious labour market, and community for isolated older adults. 43 Years of Serving Immigrants and Refugees. Skills for Change is known for pioneering programs that respond to shifting immigration and workplace trends. Skills for change provides new immigrants and refugees with a wide range of social services; free language training, mentoring, bridging programs, entrepreneurship programs, and employment and training programs for internationally educated professionals. The first program delivered in 1982 was an office training program that successfully led a group of women from Southeast Asia into full-time employment. Now a range of accelerated programs are offered to fit the needs of the newcomers and immigrants arriving to Canada from all parts of the world. Services we offer include information and referral, French and English language assessment, English language instruction, integrated language/skills training, employment preparation, business skills, mentoring and settlement services. Our Vision: We envision a Canada where every immigrant succeeds. Our Mission: We provide learning and training opportunities for immigrants and refugees to access and fully participate in the workplace and wider community. Skills for Change has received the Citizenship and Immigration Canada Citation of Citizenship Award; Conference Board of Canada Community Learning Award; and Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration Newcomer Champion Award for exemplary services. MOSAIC is a registered charity serving immigrant, refugee, migrant and mainstream communities in Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley as well as throughout the province of BC and overseas via online programs. Supported by a board of directors, the organization manages a $20 million plus budget annually with more than 350 staff and 660 volunteers. Services are delivered from 31 client-accessible sites and include: - Settlement assistance - English language training - Employment programs - Interpretation & translation - Counselling services - Community outreach for families and individuals, including children, youth and seniors MOSAIC also offers services for the LGBTQ and migrant worker communities. MOSAIC is one of the largest settlement organizations in Canada. Provincially, MOSAIC provides more employment supports and programs than any other immigrant-serving organization in B.C. Our expertise in employment services resulted in MOSAIC being the only immigrant-serving organization to be awarded a contract to deliver services through the B.C. Government’s Employment Program of B.C.
