ATTICUS WEBB Information

Atticus Webb reflects the passion of his alter ego, Ian Webb, with experience accumulated through a lifetime of travel and serious photography. As a young Australian diplomat in 1972, he carried his cameras through some of the worlds most inaccessible places (as diverse as Chad, Cyprus, PNG and the civil war in Uganda). After leaving the Foreign Service as Deputy Head of Mission in Kenya, Ian Webb has held senior roles in business, but has always found time, through his peripatetic persona, Atticus, to pursue his passion. This takes him regularly to Europe and occasionally to extremes such as the Taklamakan desert on the Pakistan-China border. Atticus Webbs gallery in South Yarra opened in May 2013. A select group of Melbournians, led by the Canadian Consul, Dennis Cliche, attended the opening. As he cut the ribbon Mr Cliche declared, This is the first function I have ever opened in a car wash. As the waiters passed the canapés, guests reassured each other, But this is surely Melbournes designer carwash. One can look at Atticus images while the Porsche is being washed. The photographer, Atticus Webb, (whose real name is actually Ian), added to the occasion with a panama hat and braces. Atticus told the audience that as a young Australian diplomat he had carried his cameras through some of the worlds most inaccessible places. Now he had found time, through his peripatetic persona, Atticus, to pursue his passion. The images are printed and framed by experts. All signed with a provenance from Atticus himself. The gallery is located at Crystal Car Wash, 308 Punt Road, South Yarra. Open between 8.30 and 5.30 every day. Easy to visit put your car through the wash, have a coffee and view the images. Atticus also has other exhibitions from time to time, including at the Council Chambers in Bayside and the Beaumaris Library.
