Astute Bloodstock Information

Astute Bloodstock was established in November 2012 by Louis Le Metayer after 15 years of worldwide experience in the thoroughbred business. Prior to launching Astute Bloodstock, Louis worked in the bloodstock and marketing office under John Messara at Arrowfield Stud, from January 2009 to November 2012. "After all my hands-on experience, my time at Arrowfield taught me to understand the industry through a more analytical approach and deep research. John Messara and the team at Arrowfield have added immensely to my knowledge of pedigrees, the art of marketing, stallion management, as well as increasing my understanding of industry issues. Arrowfield's passion for the game and constant striving for excellence have inspired me to have a go on my own!" Louis joined the Lindsay Park team in Angaston, South Australia in January 2005 as a track rider during David Hayes' triumphant return from Hong Kong. After a few months in the saddle, Louis moved into the bloodstock team and was quickly involved in selecting yearlings at the sales, selling tried horses, client relations and stallion promotion. "Lindsay Park was a great hub of activity in those days. From the mating of stallions and mares, to Group 1 victory, every link of the chain was built there." Louis grew up around horses at Haras Du Buff in Normandy, France, a boutique broodmare farm managed by his mother. Louis' late father was a bloodstock agent who pioneered the exporting business of French National Hunt horses to England and Ireland. "By the age of 18 years old I had already foaled down dozens of mares and broken-in close to 60 yearlings with my brother and our riding instructor."
