AstronEra is building the future of how humanity experiences the night sky. Founded in 2018 as an astronomy outreach platform, AstronEra has evolved into India’s leading organisation working at the intersection of science, policy, sustainability, and tourism. Today, AstronEra serves as a technical and strategic partner to government bodies, designing frameworks that reduce light pollution, protect biodiversity, and unlock sustainable astrotourism economies. Our work spans: • Dark sky policy design and implementation • Government advisory and inter-departmental coordination • International standard integration (with global dark sky frameworks) • Community-led models like AstroTribe • Large-scale public engagement and science communication AstronEra has led: • India’s first International Dark Sky Preservation & Astrotourism Conference (2023) • State-level dark sky policy development in Maharashtra • Identification and development of 11+ pilot dark sky sites • Capacity building across communities, institutions, and government systems We believe the night sky is not a luxury.
