ASPTMR Information

ASPTMR (the Association for Supporting Patients with Tuberculosis Multidrug Resistant) was founded in 2011 as a non-governmental organization and it is the only Multidrug Tuberculosis patients nonprofit in Romania. The main activity is focused on tuberculosis patients’ needs and their representation in front of authorities. Until now the main concern in treating TB was focused on TB drugs and diagnosis methods. When ASPTMR started to implement its projects, new aspects related directly with healing and preventing TB arose: psychological problems (depression, anxiety, psychosis, addiction etc.), social needs (unemployment, analphabetism, stigma, social exclusion, lack of information regarding human rights, patient rights etc.), side effects of TB and TB treatment who led to other stigma motives and social exclusion (deafness, blindness, cognitive deterioration etc.). Our organization is dealing with these needs with great care and focus. VISION A society without tuberculosis. MISSION ASPTMR through cooperation promotes and sustains the right to health care, social protection for all patients with tuberculosis and high quality education for tuberculosis eradication.
