On 1st. October 2008, Gloucester City Council operated sports facilities - GL1, Horizons Health and Fitness and Oxstalls Sports Park - transferred management to the newly formed aspire sports and cultural trust. The Trust now also manage Xpress Fitness based at Gloucestershire College.

+ making Gloucester a place in which people of all ages and abilities have access to high quality, enjoyable sporting opportunities;
+ ensuring that there will be assistance for people to achieve a good introduction to sport and physical;
+ maximising comminuty involvement;
+ ensuring the low and unwaged are encouraged to use the facilities through relative pricing structures;
+ building on current partnerships with Gloucester Schools Partnership, Gloucesershire Primary Care Trust, Lawn Tennis Association and the University of Gloucestershire, plus partnership working with with Glouceser City Council.
