The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a globally recognized organization that brings together engineers from diverse disciplines to promote innovation, knowledge sharing, and advancement in the field of engineering. ASME-VIT was established in 2010 at Vellore Institute of Technology with guidance from ASME India. Over the years, it has grown into one of the most respected and dynamic student chapters on campus Since 2013, ASME-VIT has been hosting its flagship annual symposium MECHNOVATE, which attracts over 1500 external participants and features a wide range of workshops, technical competitions, and events designed to spark scientific curiosity and creativity among young engineers. In collaboration with the School of Mechanical Engineering (SMEC), VIT, ASME-VIT co-organizes the International Conference on Materials, Manufacturing and Modelling (ICMMM)—a prestigious biennial conference that serves as a platform for leading researchers, academicians, and industry experts to share insights on advancements in materials, manufacturing, and modelling. ASME-VIT also comprises two active technical teams, Team Veloce and Team Anant, which focus on hands-on innovation and technical excellence. In recognition of these outstanding contributions, ASME-VIT was honoured with the Best Technical Chapter Award (2024-2025) at VIT Vellore —a testament to the commitment, innovation, and collaborative spirit of its members in furthering the chapter’s mission and legacy of excellence.
