Ashley Pittman Collection Information

Ashley Pittman works with Kenyan artisans to produce jewelry from exquisite local materials. At the core of her eponymous collection is the philosophy of conscientious consumption and sustainable style while promoting entrepreneurship and centuries-old artisanal skills. Ashley’s work in Africa began in 2006 when she served as a volunteer for the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative in Rwanda. Deeply touched by what she encountered there, Ashley set out to utilize the skills she acquired both in law school and the finance industry to build a sustainable company that would provide much-needed employment and business training to local artisan groups. In addition to providing stability to the individuals behind every piece of jewelry, Ashley donates 10% of all profits to help fund a rural health center and primary school in an area of Kenya particularly hard-hit by prolonged drought. Through the Ashley Pittman Foundation, the Kathiani Primary School has been supplied with a source for clean, de-salinated drinking water, new books and uniforms. The Foundation also assisted in the opening of Kamboo Dispensary, a rural health clinic serving a population of over 4,500.
