ASHE FOUNDATION Information

Out of the Ashes Foundation, Inc is a non-profit organization servicing the inner city youth of Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties since 1996. Our current programs have two distinct features as follows: 1) Farm/Nature Based Programs 2) Community Outreach Programs. 1. Farm/Nature Based Programs: Our Farm/Nature based program is located at 13800 NW 102 Ave, Hialeah Gardens, Florida 33018. This is an eight acre site of agricultural land. It has wet and dry areas, grass, shrubs and trees, natural habitats and maintained areas. Birds of all types have permanent nesting areas and it is a stop over for migratory species. In other words a natural ecosystem is in place and it is a part of the Greater Everglades Ecosystem. Our program takes inner city kids and connects them with this environment. We have regular nature walks on foot or on horseback. We teach and practice Horsemanship. We provide programs on Environmental, Agricultural and Wildlife awareness. We also conduct a Summer Camp with Arts and Crafts. Apart from the natural environments, we provide hands on contact with many domestic animals such as rabbits, goats, chickens and birds. Seasonal planting of squash, beans and pumpkins allow children to reconnect with the earth as a sustainable food provider while using horse and chicken manure to fertilize our gardens.
