Arthur Strachan Real Estate Agency was established in approximately 1960 by Arthur Strachan, a well known identity of Lae running a customs clearance agency who saw the need for a real estate agency. It is believed this was the first real estate agency to be established in Lae, and it was successfully run by Arthur until 1976 from a small rented office in James Arcade on 4th Street in Lae. From 1976 the business was operated by Bruce & Faye Duffield, along with two of their long-serving Papua New Guinean staff members and shareholders in the business, Oswald Duncan, the Property Manager and Nanice Bob, the Chief Accounts Clerk. During this time the office moved to its current location in it's own premises, in 6th Street, opposite the Westpac Bank. Arthur Strachan Real Estate has continued to offer services under the current management of Bruce and Fayes son, Paul Duffield, and in the volatile market of the real estate industry in PNG, the business has maintained excellent, reliable staff who give professional service to all clients - an essence passed down from its inception.
