Art Discovery Information

Art Discovery, created in 1997, is a Chicago-based arts in education initiative designed to foster collaboration among arts institutions to provide students and educators enhanced experiences and resources for teaching and learning-both in the arts and in core curriculum areas. The goal of the program, sponsored by Kraft Foods, is to create more opportunities for learning in the arts. Working in partnership with Chicago Public Schools teachers, participating organizations are creating new curricula, customized lesson plans, resources and in-service training opportunities. In the process, students are provided in-depth and integrated experiences in music, dance, theater and the visual arts. The program offers participants greater access to the teaching resources available through Chicago's cultural institutions and fosters a higher level of comfort and familiarity that will enable greater numbers of educators to utilize these resources throughout their teaching careers.
