Arredondo Family Foundation Information

AFF (the Arredondo Family Foundation) provides military families support in the following manners:By providing QPR suicide prevention training so that military families and friends are able to be aware of how to prevent another military related suicide. This is a one hour training. By providing youth mental health first aid to adults who work with youth aged 10 - 18 who might be exhibiting symptoms of a mental health condition versus typical adolescent behavior. The different types of mental health conditions, how to intervene appropriately and where to find appropriate mental health support are all extensively covered in this eight (8) hour training. Both QPR and Youth Mental Health First aid are available in Spanish to reduce the incidence of suicide in Spanish speaking communities in Massachusetts. By providing scholarships to military siblings for kids who are or will attend higher education as well as military siblings or kids who attend the Sacred Heart School in Roslindale. These scholarships named the Arredondo Brothers Memorial Scholarships. By providing referrals to after-care so families can meet with a support group and also a therapist if necessary. AFF does this with the help of partner agencies. By providing a turkey giveaway at Thanksgiving for families who have lost someone to suicide well as veterans, military and Gold Star families. AFF does this with generosity of corporate sponsors including Herb Chambers Companies. In 2019, 550 meals were provided to veterans and military families are four different sites in Massachusetts. By supporting and assisting the work of Rose's Bounty Food Pantry located in West Roxbury section of Boston, veterans who are not associated with the Veteran's Administration, veterans who are shut-in and military families who are unable to attend the regular hours of the food pantry.
