Arend Bruijn is a Dutch composer specialised in music for film, television and commercials. Over the last years, he worked on many short-films, tv-series and shows as a freelance composer. Each project he searches for a unique, musical style to support the story and ways to add depth to the narrative. Because of his classical background and the curiosity to explore new sounds and techniques, he has mastered a lot of different musical styles with a broad sound palette. His specialty however lies in orchestral music, ranging from epic “bigger then life” to warm and playful scores. After graduating as a classical percussionist, he studied Composing for Film at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Dutch Film Academy. Arend's score for the film 'I Can Fly' has been nominated for the Buma new talent Award 2018 and in that same year he co-developed the ‘Virtual Orchestration’ course and became a teacher at the master department of the Conservatory of Amsterdam This year, Arend started writing and producing music for trailers, aiming for high quality orchestral tracks with a big production value. Besides his work for television and film, Arend produces symphonic-techno music under the pseudonym: Playground.
