Arcova Development LLC (“Arcova”) is focused on the process of transforming power project and transaction concepts into executable investments. Our name itself was created from our statement of purpose: out of concept, create value. Arcova’s three principals have over 50 years of combined experience in project development, project execution, facility operations and finance. Our initial project sponsor, Sunbury Generation LP (an affiliate of Robindale Energy Services), retired a 400MW coal-fired plant and launched one of the largest coal-to-gas repowering projects ever undertaken. The resulting Hummel Station is an efficient 1,100MW combined cycle generating facility, that consequently cut per-MWh CO2 emissions in half, reduced water intake by 97%, and eliminated ash output altogether. Arcova was formed to develop this project, and to formulate and develop other opportunities into high-performance investments. Our team creates or adopts project or transaction concepts, performs analysis to determine technical and commercial viability, and then assembles the components necessary for financing, acquisition and/or execution. In these areas, our principals’ experience in contract structuring, financial analysis and modeling, engineering, construction and operations is vital. We know that a reliable, balanced, and resilient power supply is critical to the health of the economy, and to the nation itself. We anticipate that the long-term availability of low-cost gas will continue to apply pressure on traditional coal and nuclear power technologies. Regulation changes are unlikely to improve the viability of many coal and nuclear plants. Arcova also understands the importance that renewables, energy storage, and distributed generation must play in addressing global climate issues while also creating power source diversity. We are exploring opportunities where such facilities can meet the necessary set of energy, environmental, and financial objectives.
