Manos del Uruguay is a non-profit social organization which, since 1968, has provided jobs for craftswomen living in Uruguay rural areas. We produce high quality, hand knitted and hand woven garments and accessories for international luxury brands. Our yarns are mostly made of wool and wool blends, being Uruguay one of the top wool exporters in the world. We spin by hand our craft yarns, which are commercialized in the most demanding markets of the USA and Europe. We have local stores, where we sell our own collections developed twice a year. We also sell our collections to the international market. During 2009, and after a long and exhaustive evaluation process, Manos del Uruguay was accepted as a member of the World Fair Trade Organization – WFTO, which operates in 70 countries and brings together more than 350 organizations, 100% committed to Fair Trade.
