Archetype Architecture Information

Archetype Architecture is a full-service architecture and interior design firm based on Manhattan's Upper West Side, serving clients throughout New York City. Founded by Alan Berman in 2001, we specialize in custom residential architecture, apartment and townhouse renovations, interior design, and landmark properties. Our work combines thoughtful contemporary design with respect for the character of existing buildings. We guide clients through every stage of a project—from initial planning and design to construction administration and final completion. Our team regularly coordinates with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC), the Department of Buildings (DOB), consultants, and contractors to help projects move efficiently.
