Aquatic Control Engineering Information

Aquatic Control Engineering Ltd (ACE) was formed in September 1995 to bring Dutch flow control products to the UK and Ireland. The range was originally made in the Netherlands and is now manufactured in house under the AQUIKO brand. It is made from high density polyethylene (HDPE), which is lighter than cast iron or steel and highly durable. The material is now widely used in water flow control, but ACE is still the company that introduced it. Today ACE is a turnkey contractor, taking projects from design and early contractor involvement through to installation, commissioning, controls and aftercare, with one team accountable throughout. We also represent Fishflow Innovations, Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis and WaPro WaStop check valves in the UK and Ireland, alongside our own flood barriers. Many of our customers have worked with us for years, and they return because we install to a high standard, on time. Fish passage has been part of our work since 2000, when the EU Water Framework Directive meant structures had to consider the migration of eels, elvers, coarse fish and salmonids. Designing the structure and the fish pass together keeps costs down and balances flood risk and commercial need against ecological benefit. We co-developed the eel pass with the Environment Agency and the Rivers Trust, and our Fishflow Innovations pumps are designed to be fish friendly.
