ApplyAlberta Information

ApplyAlberta provides a common application starting point. Students will be able to initiate their ApplyAlberta applications from participating institution web sites or from www.applyalberta.ca. The first time students use ApplyAlberta they will create a profile with their personal information and academic history. This profile will be password protected and stored on a secure site. ApplyAlberta will send this profile to each institution the student selects-which means students won't have to re-enter their information every time they apply to another Alberta Post-secondary institution, now or in the future. Finally, using the students authorization, the institution will request Alberta high school or Post-secondary transcripts on their behalf. When will ApplyAlberta be up and running? At the present time, the ApplyAlberta system is still in the development stage. The core system is nearing completion, and once this is ready, there will be extensive usability and functionality testing by both students and institutions. Connecting and integrating 21 different institutions is a complex initiative. Each has different application systems and processes. This means institutions will be ready to implement ApplyAlberta at different times. Once the core ApplyAlberta system is complete, there will be a staged implementation beginning this fall with the institutions that are ready. All 21 institutions will be using the ApplyAlberta application system by the start of the 2009-2010 academic year. What type of applicants will use this new application system? ApplyAlberta will be used by all those applying to attend one of the public post-secondary institutions, including high school students, adult learners, current post-secondary continuing students, and international students. How is it advantageous for students? What value does it add?
