Appalachian Mountain Project Access Information

Appalachian Mountain Project Access (Project Access, AMPA) is an independent non-profit whose mission is to bring about Meaningful Access to Healthcare. To this end, AMPA administers 3 main programs. Specialty Care Coordination [SCC] - local medical providers agree to donated their services to financial screened patients who are low-income and have no access to affordable insurance. Main service area for this program is Washington County, TN; secondary counties are Carter, Johnson, and Unicoi. Funding through the State of TN, Dept of Health. Health Insurance Marketplace [HIM] - Federally trained and certified Navigators conduct outreach, education, and provide in-person application assistance for private health insurance plans available through the Health Insurance Marketplace (healthcare.gov). They also assist with initial TennCare/Medicaid applications. Main service area for this program is Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington counties, TN. Funding through the Dept of Health and Human Services. Insurance Premium Assistance [IPA] - Individuals who are referred to AMPA for screening through SCC & HIM are also potentially eligible for IPA. Monthly premiums are paid for those with complicated specialty care needs and/or multiple specialty care needs (such as oncology, cardiology, surgery). Participating Providers assist with out-of-pocket expenses. Funding through a Community Grant as a pilot study for Washington County, TN residents only.
