Our mission is to help people who suffer with fears and phobias regain the ability to live happy and productive lives. Our services are based on cognitive behavioral methods of treatment. A cognitive behavioral treatment is fairly concrete and practical. It helps people recover from anxiety disorders primarily by helping them respond differently to the anxiety symptoms. All too often, people struggle with anxiety problems in ways that make them worse rather than better. They struggle to protect themselves from anxious thoughts and feelings, only to find that their lives get more difficult and restricted as a result. Our treatment plans find ways around that problem. As you practice the new approach, you will find that the anxiety recedes from your life. This is a very different approach than that offered by traditional psychotherapy. Traditional psychotherapy aims to help people by reviewing their early childhood experiences and trying to answer the "why" question - "why do I have this problem?". Our method is much more concerned with the "what" and "how" questions - "what happens to me when I become anxious?" and "how can I handle this differently, in ways that enable me to calm down?".
