The Anti-dumping and Subsidies Commission (a portfolio Agency under the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, MIIC) administers Trade Remedies in Jamaica. Trade Remedies are trade defense instruments permitted by the WTO, that allow Member governments to put in place measures in specific circumstances against imports that are causing injury to their domestic industry. The Commission investigates complaints submitted by or on behalf of producers of goods in Jamaica in one of the following Trade Remedies: antidumping duties to counteract dumping; countervailing duties to counteract subsidization; and safeguard measures (duty or quotas) to counteract sudden volume increase in import.
