ANOCA is an association constituted among the 53 (fifty-three) National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Africa. Its prime goal is to foster cooperation amongst NOCs and encourage them to disseminate Olympic ideals in Africa. The association also facilitates relations between African NOCs and the International Olympic Committee and coordinates their actions in a bid to make rational use of Olympic Solidarity funds. Africa's preparation for and participation in the Olympics is yet another concern of ANOCA. Concurrently, the supreme Olympic governing body in Africa initiates sports development projects on the continent. Undertaken in consultation with NOCs and African sports confederations, these actions are mainly youth-oriented, as testified by the introduction of the African Youth Games meant for youths aged -18.
