Andromeda was set up on Murano in 1972, initially to produce classical Venetian lighting. Thanks to the abilities of its master glassblowers and extraordinary business dynamism, it rapidly stood out from the Murano production scene. In 1985, the demand for custom made lighting for internationally famous customers necessitated an initial expansion and reorganization of the production structure. Andromeda gradually specialized in niche products and in the 1990’s began to collaborate with leading architectural studios with which it developed custom made designs of high technical and aesthetic value. Andromeda has worked hand-in-hand with inspirationally creative architects and designers, caliber of Philippe Starck, Karim Rashid, David Chipperfield, Fiona Thompson and Tobia Scarpa, just to name a few who have put their names to Andromeda collections or who have worked with the company to realize exclusive, unrepeatable personal projects. To design and produced a unique custom make piece requires a mix of passion, creativity, technical skill, experience, and courage. There must be harmony and understanding between men and ideas, from architects to master glassblowers, from the study of mechanics and materials to research into lighting systems and products. This ability is our most important asset and enables us to push back the frontier between possible and impossible, reaching previously unthinkable points of contact between aesthetics and function. Over 35 years of business, Andromeda has conceived, designed, produced and installed lighting in company headquarters, banks, council buildings, residences, hotels, entertainment venues, and other public and private institutions. Today it is the top name in the contract lighting sector, with a consolidated capacity for customization and a policy of taking on the most complex technical challenges.
