e-Learning is changing from a static online training environment to a field-based experiential approach, leveraging smartphones, tablets, simulations, and wearable technologies to better drive performance outcomes and engagement. However, the ability to track these outcomes has not kept pace with the shift in technology. The deficit in the collection of learning data has severely impeded the ability to study, analyze, and correlate outcomes and ROI within organizations, for individual learners, and longitudinally across populations. As the solution to this problem, An Estuary builds professional learning data technologies leveraging the Experience API (xAPI) — the learning data standard. We build tools to support the collection and analysis of actionable learning data. We design experiences for professional learning with a focus on experiential learning in the field.
