Ampere, established in 1947 by founder the late John Mense, has manufactured, supplied and developed quality products for the Australian electrical industry. The acquisition is in keeping with Omegas (Est.1982) key strategy of sourcing reliable, quality products from market leading manufacturers. It combines two great Australian owned businesses to better serve our loyal customer base and keeps Australian brands in Australian hands. Amperes MD, Robert Mense, It is important the Company remains Australian owned and Omega will, I am sure, continue to develop and grow our trusted brand and products into what will be an exciting future. However,the Mense family continues to be heavily involved in the Ampere organisation. In fact, Johns son Robert, who started in the business as an apprentice toolmaker has taken the company to new heights in his current role as Managing Director. Ampere recently moved to a modern warehouse in Port Melbourne which will give its customers even greater service. In this age of multi national mega corporations and increasing pressures on local manufacturers, it is pleasing to see an Australian owned company producing locally made products that are still widely regarded as the best on the market.
