Ampelos is a Californian vineyard (located in the Sta. Rita Hills) with a Greek name meaning "vine". The Greek name stems from our ties to Greece -- we were married in Greece and own a small hotel there. Ampelos truly represents our focus which is a shared belief by my wife and I that all great wines are made in the vineyard. Good grapes produce great wine. As winemakers and farmers, we believe that taking care of and respecting the environment is essential in producing excellent wines. Ampelos is one of the first vineyards in the US to be certified sustainability in practice, organic and biodynamic -- we are particularly proud of this milestone.
