American Railcar Leasing LLC was formed in July 2004 as a subsidiary of American Railcar Industries, Inc. (ARI). American Railcar Leasing LLC acquired, via a series of transfer transactions between related companies, the railcars and related leases from ACF Industries LLC (ACF). The railcar leasing operations, which was transferred to ARL, has a history dating back to 1923. Today ARL owns over 25,000 tank and covered hopper cars and serves the petroleum, chemical, food, agriculture, fertilizer and plastic pellet markets.
