The Ambrisolar Project is a demonstration solar-battery hybrid farm located in Merredin, 270km east of Perth. It consists of approx 1.1MW HSAT tracking array, 400kW filled tilt array and 1,800kWh of DC-coupled battery energy storage connected to the Western Power distribution network at 22kV. The balance of the farm operates broad acre wheat sheep. This was first HSAT tracking solar farm connected to the SWIS for AEMO certified reserve capacity to provide valuable data to the Metro Power Company E2M ai-systems. The success of these outcomes has underpinned another first. The design and installation of Dc-coupled battery systems to upgrade the asset, shifting some exports to the peak demand period of the grid, has allowed the facility to obtain the first Energy Storage Resource reserve capacity certification for the AEMO. The data from the installation is now flowing into the business ai to optimise a number of RPA developments and in-house R&D projects.
