!reinventing(wheel); ("not reinventing wheel") › Our motto uses syntax known from C-based programming languages, where exclamation mark character "!" is a logical NOT operator, and where a single instruction ends with a semicolon. Semicolon is also embedded inside our company's logo, inside the orange letter "A" for Altmes. By "not reinventing wheel" we express our philosophy for re-using already existing tools as much as possible. We begin every project with a research on what quality-tools and technologies are already available for re-using. That is the key factor that shaped Altmes into a System Integrator rather than a Software Development company. With smaller team of programmers, we are able to deliver more advanced and reliable solutions in less time. That said, we specialize in two areas within system integration: - incorporating FOSS - developing cross-platform middleware We run a distributed multi-national team of programmers from Asia and Europe run by a small in-house group of talented coders from Poland, Russia and Taiwan, located in Hsinchu's Taiyuan Hi-Tech Industrial Park. We build highly customized solutions for SME market, integrating various pieces of software and hardware. We also maintain few highly customizable proprietary systems that incorporate some great open software applications and some state-of-art hardware from our partner suppliers. Taking advantage of having our office in Hsinchu, the Silicon Valley of Asia, we make our work really exciting: we scout out great, innovative technologies from chip designers and hardware manufacturers, for which Taiwan is one of the best places globally. Then, realizing that Taiwan's software and web-service market is still catching up, we take advantage of our expertise in that area creating applications for the technology we scouted (lot of which is pretty cutting-edge).
