Alta is a consulting firm with a mission to create active communities where bicycling and walking are safe, healthy, fun, and normal daily activities. We specialize in bicycle, pedestrian, trail, park, greenway, and roadway planning, design, engineering and implementation in addition to outreach and education programs. Founded in 1996, Alta has more than 200 staff in 30 offices across the United States. On any given day, most staff walk, bike, or take transit to work. Coupled with our passion for active transportation, Alta’s thorough understanding of the principles of bicycle and pedestrian design allows us to offer flexible and innovative design, planning, and engineering solutions.
