The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) is a South African statutory body that was established in terms of the Standards Act, 1945 (Act No. 24 of 1945) and continues to operate in terms of the latest edition of the Standards Act, 2008 (Act No. 29 of 2008) as the national institution for the promotion and maintenance of standardisation and quality in connection with commodities and the rendering of services. SABS, offers certification, testing, consignment inspection and other services, mostly to industry. Apart from offering systems certification and product testing against the requirements of South African National Standards (SANS), SABS Commercial also operates its proprietary product certification scheme – the SABS Mark of Approval, assuring buyers that products are safe, fit for purpose and offer redress

The Southern African Institute of Welding (SAIW) is a non-profit technical organisation dedicated to furthering standards in welding-fabrication and related technologies. Established in 1948, it is a founder member of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). SAIW provides training programmes, consultancy and industry support services. Based in Johannesburg, with branches in Cape Town and Durban, we are active throughout Southern African and also have experience further afield - predominantly in Central Africa, the Indian Ocean Islands and the United Arab Emirates. SAIW has offered training courses for more than 30 years. An SAIW qualification has long been regarded as the industry standard in South Africa and also enjoys international recognition.

Protech Training came into existence on the 9th November 1999, and it has been successful in beginning to address the Artisan training and Technical skills needed in South Africa.
