Inspired by the belief that every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn, nearly 200 All Students Matter volunteers work with Ravenswood City School District teachers to support the success of underserved students in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park. In this school district, over 50% of the students are English learners, about 90% are low income, over 80% are below grade level and reading and math, and over 40% are in unstable housing or considered homeless. All Students Matter supports students facing these challenges. Our dedicated, trained volunteers are a consistent, caring presence in the lives of these children, working weekly in the same classroom with the same students throughout the school year. Ravenswood teachers rely on ASM volunteers to help improve the academic performance and social-emotional well-being of the students. ASM is a key component of the district’s literacy intervention strategy and supports grades Transitional Kindergarten through 8th. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, during 2020-21 our tutoring programs are being offered online. Visit our website for details on the virtual tutoring programs we will have in place until we can return to classrooms in person.
