Founded in 1968, SUE is the oldest and largest public comprehensive university in Kurdistan region of Iraq. The University was transferred to the city of Erbil, locally known as Hawler, in 1981 after its establishment in the city of Sulaymania. Initially, the university included seven colleges: Science, Agriculture, Engineering, Administration, Arts, Education, and Medicine. In 1985, the college of Law and Politics was added. Several more were established in the following years so that by 2004, the university offered courses in 12 colleges.

National Institute of Technology Raipur (Formerly Government Engineering College Raipur), situated in the capital of a newly incepted state of Chhattisgarh, has proven to be "avant-grade' in the field of science and technology over past few decades in this region. With sweet memory of foundation ceremony by our president Hon'ble Dr. Rajendra Prasad on 14th September 1956, the Institute started with two departments namely Metallurgical and Mining Engineering. Later, the inauguration of the Institute building was done by our Prime Minister Hon'ble Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on 14th March 1963. Since 1st December 2005, the institute has become the National Institute of Technology.

Tishk International University is a private university which was founded in 2008 in Erbil, Iraq. The university started educational service with 5 faculties containing 9 departments on the first campus located on the 60 Meter Avenue. The faculties and the departments are as follows: Engineering Faculty (Computer Engineering and Civil Engineering), Dentistry Faculty (Dentistry Department), Administrative Sciences and Economics (Economy Department and Business and Management Department), Education Faculty (English Language Teaching Department, Mathematics Teaching Department and Computer Teaching), and Science Faculty (Information Technologies Department). The first Bachelor’s Program started with the 32 students the English Language Teaching Department of Education Faculty. 131 Prep students from the following 4 programs started studying English language: Computer Engineering, Dentistry Department, Business and Management Department, and Information Technologies Departments. The Continuing Education Center was established.
