In October 2010, at only 23 years of age, Alina Van created the self titled electric shoe brand; Alina Van, and opened a flagship store in Sydney’s fashion precinct, Paddington. Alina launched the label while completing her University Honours in IT, which she graduated in July 2011; wining the Faculty Dean's Award for Academic Performance for the Year. The label reflects Alina’s diverse cultural identity – a blend of Russian and Chinese, with a modern Australian influence. Its founding philosophy rests on Alina’s belief that ‘individuality and confidence is the essence of true style’. Thus, Alina Van Shoes are specially created for those with a mature-minded, individual and eclectic taste… those who want to make a signature statement, with fashion not produced en masse. The entire Alina Van Shoe collection is made from premium materials including kid leather, patent leather, textured leather as well as pony hair. Alina Van Shoes designs are hand-crafted to ensure they are of the highest possible quality. “There is never a compromise on quality, comfort or design,” Alina says. Alina Van Shoes made their debut on the runway at the 2011 Australian Rosemount Fashion Festival, with clothing label Flowers for a Veagabond, by Toby Maclean.
