Aletheos is a Belgian non-profit building trustworthy AI tools to secure digital discourse and restore trust in the information ecosystem. We help journalists, researchers, NGOs, educators, and civil society monitor the integrity of their information space, decode complex narrative environments, and separate signal from noise in real time. Working at the intersection of AI, civic tech, and media integrity, we develop practical, research-backed systems that detect manipulation, verify factual claims, and make disinformation and coordinated propaganda visible and understandable to humans. Our tools support multilingual and cross-border contexts, with a strong focus on Europe, including Eastern European and Russian-language information environments. Disinformation now spreads faster than traditional fact-checking can respond, overwhelming professionals and eroding public trust. Aletheos addresses this gap by combining state-of-the-art NLP research with transparent, auditable, human-centred workflows — not hype-driven AI. Our solutions are designed to fit real journalistic, research, and civil society practices. We operate as a Belgian NGO and collaborate across the European research, media, and civic ecosystem. Our work has been supported through European grants, accelerators, and hackathons, and is grounded in peer-reviewed academic research. Made by volunteers, for everyone, we prioritise openness, accountability, and responsible AI, and align closely with EU priorities on democratic resilience, media freedom, digital rights, and trustworthy AI. We are actively seeking partners to pilot, co-develop, and scale public-interest tools for counter-disinformation and media analysis across Europe.
