Aleksa Auto, which specializes in late model pre-owned cars, trucks, sport utility vehicles and passenger vans, opened its doors in April of 1995. The dealership, which is located on both sides of Route 28, was formerly the home of Diltz Ford. In the 1960's Ed Newman bought the dealership and the Ford franchise. When Mr. Newman moved his Ford dealership a few blocks up Route 28 the facility then became the home of Salem Subaru. After the Subaru dealership went out of business the dealership changed hands many times. When we bought the property, the facility had gone through 5 or 6 years lacking prosperity. It was basically run down to the ground, said co-owner Jake Aleksa of Windham, NH. With extensive renovations and brand new state-of-the-art service and autobody equipment the dealership was again a thriving business. And now, 16 years later, Aleksa Auto has sold over 10,000 vehicles and has over $10 million in annual revenue. The backbone of our dealership has always been our 12 bay service department, said co-owner Steve Aleksa of Methuen. We have some of the best mechanics in the area who safety check and certify every vehicle in our inventory, he said.Many of the over 10,000 vehicles sold by Aleksa Auto also return to the dealership for periodic maintenance, state inspections, collision repairs and general repairs. It really has given us a huge competitive advantage to be able to deliver a used vehicle that has been completely gone through and then be able to service the vehicle for years to come. Our customers know we are always there for them, he said. Another reason the Aleksa brothers contribute to their success is their finance department. Over the years we have established some very close business relationships with many local banks, credit unions and finance institutions.
