Solis was founded by Dr. W. Schaufelberger in 1908. He developed the famous Solis heating pad and brought it to market at the beginning of the twentieth century.
This was followed by the creation of a groundbreaking range of professional hair dryers, and in 1933 hairdryer production began in Zurich. With the label Swiss Made, interest in Solis products grew rapidly all over the world.
In 1943, production was relocated to Mendrisio in southern Switzerland. The company’s export strategy in the hairdryer segment proved highly successful: since the 1950s Solis products have been available in the American market, and in 1971 Solis hairdryers were introduced into hairdressing salons in Japan. Today, Solis exports its professional hairdryers to more than 40 countries worldwide.
The entrepreneur Willi A. Nauer took over Solis AG in 1983 and developed it into the Solis Group. In 2013, his son Thomas Nauer assumed leadership of the company. Today, Solis is specialised in innovative solutions for coffee, kitchen, climate, and haircare – combining quality with lifestyle and design.
