Albo & Oblon, LLP was founded a decade and a half ago (in 1994) by David B. Albo and David A. Oblon. Over this time, we have grown from two to fifteen lawyers, with offices in Arlington, Fairfax, Leesburg, Norfolk, Roanoke/Salem, and Staunton. We don't pretend to be good at everything. Rather, we strive to be the best at five areas of law: Employment Law, Government Contracts Law, Business Law, Civil Litigation, and Criminal Defense (including "white collar" allegations). Few Virginia firms are like us. For example:-Our lawyers are unusual. We encourage our lawyers to become leaders in our state and community. Elected officials - including the House Chairman of the Judiciary Committee in the state legislature and a Supervisor in the Prince William County Board of Supervisors (local government) - are among our other talented lawyers. Some of these lawyers include leaders in the bar and community organizations - from homeowners associations to the Boy Scouts. -We are one of Virginia's few medium sized law firms with a statewide presence. We cover the Commonwealth of Virginia with five offices throughout Virginia and the Washington, D.C. area. -We teach law to other lawyers (and to judges). We regularly teach our practice areas to other lawyers and to judges at popular continuing legal education seminars. Such seminars have included topics such as Employment Law, Civil Procedure, E-Commerce, Evidence, Ethics, Legislative Updates, and Criminal Defense. -We write the practice guides used by other lawyers to practice law. Other lawyers use our practice guides and published articles in their own practices. Our publications include the Wage & Hour Handbook used by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Human Resource Manual used by the Fairfax County Bar Association, and manuals for criminal defense. -We have hundreds upon hundreds of trials under our belt. Our attorneys include seven former prosecutors. The trial skills gained as a prosecutor - such as voir dire, evidence, jury selection, motions in limine, objections, closing statements - apply to all courts in both civil and criminal law. Too many lawyers these days appear in court for a bona fide trial so infrequently that they are truly uncomfortable.
