ALATEC Acquires USi, Establishes Major Rebrand as Ignite Huntsville, Ala., April 22, 2016 – ALATEC, Inc. has acquired USi, an expert technology and engineering solutions provider, as a wholly owned subsidiary. The two Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses are based in Huntsville, Ala. Marking the occasion, ALATEC is establishing a corporate rebrand and has changed its name to Ignite. “USi is a significant part of igniting our own innovation in that they are a younger company on the leading edge of education information technology,” said Jason Shelton, Ignite President and CEO. “The model USi has facilitated for local schools is one we can replicate from a business standpoint to carry over into other offerings, allowing us to innovate and be ahead of the curve.” To better reflect the company’s mission to offer a wider range of customers with innovative solutions and a greater depth of services, the tagline has been changed to “Fueling Innovation.” “The acquisition benefits USi customers because we can provide a broader array of services, including cyber, modeling and simulation, training, and technology services,” said Clayton Hinchman, Ignite COO. “We solve problems differently, and we will continue to be different in the way we approach customer problems and solutions.” Ignite is now managed by Jason Shelton, President and CEO, Brandon Umphrey, Vice President and CFO Clayton Hinchman, COO, and continues to operate as a partial employee-owned company. “ALATEC is a success story written by our founders through their commitment to excellence,” said Brandon Umphrey. “Ignite is the next chapter in that story and will continue the same commitment to excellence.” The combined companies will provide 250 employees in 17 states.
