Alaskan Salsa Salmon LLC Information

Alaskan Salsa Salmon, LLC was founded in 2003 by Michael, Deborah and Mike (JR) Hanzuk and is located in Anchorage, AK. The idea came from long time Alaskan's, (Sourdoughs). We don't take all of the credit, we just perfected the idea! How did we get started? As most Alaskan's know, when you have tried to smoke, bake, fry and Bar-B-Que salmon so many different ways you usually run out of ideas. Unless someone comes up with an off the wall idea, you continue to make up some of the same dishes over & over again. Don't get us wrong, the Chef's and Lodges in Alaska come up with some fantastic and different ideas. We wanted something different, unique and shelf stable that we could take anywhere for ourselves, we found it back in 1994. After trying many different ways of cooking and preserving fish we caught, friends of ours off of the Kenai River shared a recipe with us for jarring Salmon with Salsa. This was back in 1994-95, when we started trying this Salsa jarred Salmon idea. We tried this and found that we liked the product and idea, but it did not look as good as it tasted. After a lot of trial and error, we found our selves perfecting our own Alaskan cooking Salsa for our Salmon. Understand, what we were given as a recipe was great for starters (thank you Gordon & Wiona and God Bless), but we found our selves adding and taking away ingredients a little here and a little there for our taste. As a result, we came up with a recipe that finally worked for color and appearance. We are able to capture that little flavor of fish with just enough Salsa that one does not over power the other - this was tuff. The color was the hardest part; we are able to get it just right.
