Kurucusu Ali Naci Karacan olan Milliyet gazetesinin ilk sayısı 3 Mayıs 1950 tarihinde yayımlandı. Gazetenin ilk yazarları arasında Refik Halid, Bedii Faik, İsmail Hami, Ulunay bulunuyordu.
