FOMAS USA is a custom manufacturer of seamless rolled rings used in a variety of critical industrial components including bearing races, gears, flanges, and valve seat rings for end-use markets such as industrial bearings, power-generation (including steam and gas-turbines), wind energy, mining and construction equipment, oil & gas, petrochemical, defense, rail transportation, and a wide variety of other general industrial applications. FOMAS USA's seamless rolled ring capabilities range from 7.5 to 100 inches outside diameter (190.5 – 2540 mm), weighing from 15 to 2,500 pounds (6.8 – 1134 kg) using carbon, alloy, and stainless grades of steel and also non-ferrous materials such as copper and brass. FOMAS USA offers value-added services including design-engineering of contoured shapes, heat-treating, and rough or finish machining. Established in 1980and located in York, South Carolina near Charlotte, North Carolina, FOMAS USA employs approximately 120 employees. Major operations include two Wagner ring rolling mills and a large internal machine shop within 140,000 square feet of manufacturing space on the 29 acre site. After operating for many years as Ajax Rolled Ring and Machine, the company was acquired in October 2014 by FOMAS Group (www.fomasgroup.com) a private company in the business of forgings and seamless rolled rings, in any type of steel and non-ferrous alloys for the most demanding and critical sectors including power generation, nuclear, oil & gas, gears, transmissios and bearings, construction equipment, and general industry. After the addition of FOMAS USA, FOMAS Group has now 10 production facilities and over 1400 employees across the globe.
