The Ajax Junior Football Club has over the years proudly given several thousand Jewish Children the opportunity to play Australian football as a healthy and enjoyable recreational pursuit. From very humble beginnings Ajax has grown from a small group of boys playing scratch matches to the large well organized and highly respected organization with both male and female football programs at junior and senior levels. The senior club was formed in 1957 and throughout its history has been a proud member of the Victorian Amateur Football Association. Between 1980 and 1982 the senior team competed in A Grade, the highest level of amateur football in the state. The Ajax seniors financed and encouraged the formation of its junior counterpart in 1972. In 2020, despite the challenges of the season, the junior club set a record of almost 600 players across 27 teams including 80 girls registering. The AJAX Junior and Senior Football Club is one of Melbourne’s most respected Jewish sporting clubs.
