Victory... Forged by Test! Where it all begins, the center of the aerospace testing universe.
We plan and execute developmental test and evaluation of advanced aerospace systems – with world-class installation and mission support – to sharpen American airpower for the warfighter.
Home of the world's largest runway, the 412th Test Wing at Edwards plans, conducts, analyzes, and reports on all flight and ground testing of aircraft, weapons systems, software and components as well as modeling and simulation for the U.S. Air Force. There are three core components for this mission: flying operations, maintenance and engineering.
A team of over 11,000 consisting of active duty, federal civilian and contractor support works shoulder-to-shoulder to execute this mission at Edwards Air Force Base, USAF Plant 42, and deployed detachments across the globe.
The Department of Defense activated U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) April 16, 1987, at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
The DoD created the new unified command in response to congressional action in the Goldwater-Nichols Defense Reorganization Act of 1986 and the Nunn-Cohen Amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 1987. Congress mandated a new four-star command be activated to prepare Special Operations Forces (SOF) to carry out assigned missions and, if directed by the president or secretary of defense, to plan for and conduct special operations.
Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) began in 2003 as a grassroots effort to provide care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. More than two decades later, Wounded Warrior Project is the nation's leading veteran service organization, focused on the total well-being of post-9/11 wounded, ill, or injured veterans.
Keeping the promise to care for our nation’s veterans requires the expertise and energy of a diverse and committed team. We build and lead programs that help warriors find purpose and thrive. We provide essential lifelines to families and caregivers. We advocate tirelessly with policymakers. We raise awareness to celebrate the service and honor the sacrifice of all veterans.
The support of generous donors and corporate partners allows us to provide programs at no cost to warriors and their families. Talented WWP teammates across the country work together to ensure that no warrior is left behind. Together, we're changing the way our nation cares for veterans for generations to come.
