Great Lakes Aikido in Vernon Hills, IL is an open community dedicated to traditional martial art training. All are welcome, and beginners may start training at any time. We are located in the Corporate Woods business park, within the Cohen Brothers Judo Center. Great Lakes Aikido is a member dojo of Aikido Shimbokukai <https://www.aikidoshimbokukai.org/>, an association striving to bring people together for friendship and the exchange of experience and ideas through Aikido training. Aikido Shimbokukai is officially recognized by the Aikikai Foundation in Tokyo <http://aikikai.or.jp/eng/index.html>.

We aim to offer Aikido instruction and training that is of the highest quality in a friendly environment, delivered by qualified instructors, and accredited by the Aikido World Headquarters in Japan. All training will also be consistent with the principles and philosophies of Aikido as laid down by its founder: O Sensei Ueshiba Morihei. Established in 1988, we are currently led by Chairman Founder and Chief Instructor Philip Lee Shihan (6th Dan), and we plan to introduce this beautiful martial art to more people and wider communities.
