AIDS FOOD STORE INC Information

Since 1998, The AIDS Food Store has carried a rainbow flag in the Long Beach Pride Parade, originally with a borrowed flag from San Francisco. Last year, we retired our original rainbow flag carried in the Pride Parade each year since 2003. The flag was donated to the Long Beach Historic Society as part of the LGBT Archive Project. We will unveil our new flag at the 2014 Long Beach Pride Parade this May. Now we need your assistance to help us "Raise the Flag". Your donation will not only help us purchase the new flag but will also support our ongoing mission to provide healthy nutritional food, emotional and spiritual support for people living with HIV and AIDS. There have been great strides in medication and treatment for HIV and AIDS over the last 20 years and people are living longer. Yet infection is still an issue in many communities and demographics and the need continues to be great. Help us continue to provide food and support for our clients through our food distributions on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. Our new flag measures 30 feet by 70 feet with 350 squares of each color, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. You can purchase a square of any color for $10 or the complete spectrum for $50. Donors will be recognized on our website and progress graphic displayed at our food distributions. Because our work begins and ends with our clients so we are dedicating the first and last rows of the flag to these men and women who receive our services.
